Transition to Work is a free Australian Government program that helps young people prepare for employment, training or further education.
If you're not sure what you want to do next, that's okay. Our experienced Youth Support Workers will help you explore your options, set goals, and develop a plan for your future.
You'll receive personalised support, practical advice, and access to opportunities that help you move forward with confidence.
What is Transition to Work?
Transition to Work (TtW) helps young people aged 15 to 24 develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to move into employment, training or further education.
The program is designed for young people who may need extra support to achieve their goals and build independence.
With APM, you'll work with a dedicated Youth Support Worker who will get to know you, understand your goals, and help you create a pathway towards success.
Eligibility requirements
You may be eligible for Transition to Work if you:
- Are aged 15 to 24
- Can legally work in Australia
- Have been unemployed recently
- Are receiving Youth Allowance or other support payments
- Are not receiving income support payments
- Are not currently participating in another employment service
- Are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander young person aged 15 to 24
- Do not have a Year 12 certificate or Certificate III qualification

You'll also receive coaching and mentoring after starting work to help you settle in and succeed.

How Transition to Work works
1. Get started
Contact APM and speak with our team about your goals and eligibility.
2. Meet your Youth Support Worker
We'll take the time to understand your strengths, interests and future plans.
3. Create a plan
Together we'll build a personalised pathway that may include training, education, work experience, job searching and skills development.
4. Achieve your goals
We'll support you as you move into employment, training or further education and continue helping you after you get started.
