Latasha and Grant Associates transcript

I was born and raised West Virginia. I recently came to Pittsburgh a few years ago for new opportunities, a better outlook.

A friend of mine told me about the UPMC program. And I was interested as soon as I heard about it, and the EARN program was able to help me with proceeding through.

And slowly but surely, I got into the program, and now I'm part of UPMC.

UPMC has a a long process for getting enrolled in their training program. There's a lot of paperwork so the way in which we supported her was through assisting her with completing the paperwork, making sure that her childcare and transportation was in place, given that she had to travel from where she lived to where the training is located, and also making sure that uh there were no other issues that would impede her progress.

I think she was a good fit for the UPMC program because she has a great personality. She's a friendly person, and in the position that she was hired for, with her personality she was able to greet patients eagerly, very friendly, and I think that was something they were looking for.

She had multiple hospitals within UPMC’s organisation requesting that she come work for them.

Training helps build character; character helps build achievement. And I was able to achieve my goal by doing the training, by being dedicated, and I couldn't be happier. I learned new things, and it made me feel important because I was the one doing them.

The way in which I've seen Latasha grow her confidence is just off the charts. She consistently talks about her job; how much she loves it. She talks about the example that she's setting for her children, and as she's talking about it, I noticed the look on her face, the smile on her face, the energy in her voice. This has really put her over the top.

I don't think I could have achieved as much as I did without the EARN program. I felt love. I felt appreciated. I felt acknowledged because the Grant Associates showed me how I could be a better person, showed me how I could build, encourage others, showed me how never give up on something you believe in. I couldn't be more grateful for having an EARN program on my side.
