Lifepoint and Equus transcript

The Department of Labor industry Intermediary Registered Apprenticeship Expansion Program, involves developing non-traditional occupations and registered apprenticeship, recruiting employers to become sponsors, if you will, of registered apprenticeship, as well it involves getting candidates interested in alternative career pathways.

The beauty of the program that we operate as an, is that we are able to support our employer Partners to develop programs that will help them gain benefits and attract new talent.

We noticed that there was opportunity, we noticed that apprenticeship as a model, had promise.

We all have needs for recruiting, we all have needs for staffing. We all want to support our employees and make sure that they want to stay, so connecting to apprenticeship has just added a total asset to the way that we work already.

We started our work with Lifepoint and help them to expand their culinary and environmental services. We helped them become a national program sponsor and now we're working with them to build a ‘grow your own’ registered nurse program and helping to support their efforts as they continue to expand their programs.

A lot of our programs build upon each other so you can join at the entry level, get your skill set, get comfortable caring for patients in our facilities, and then kind of take the next step to advance and become an even more confident and competent clinician.

I would say that I personally, and we collectively as a team, have learned just as much from Lifepoint as as we've done to support them. So it's been it's been a mutual, reciprocal relationship where we're learning together.

We have heard phenomenal feedback from the apprentice, that it's making them feel more confident in their skills, more comfortable in working with patients. That is priceless. If you make someone feel, I mean I want to feel that, you know, I want to feel more confident in my job. It impacts quality. It impacts safety. Our hospitals have seen nothing but good things come from apprenticeship.

You know what you read about, what you hear about, it's exciting to be able to experience those successes with employers, and Lifepoint specifically, they have seen the value and what it's done for their team members and for their organisation. So they've continued to add, very strategically, add new programs and expand.

Right off the get-go when we first started apprenticeship and to see where we are now today, I mean it feels like a kind of a proud parent moment. I mean we've had a really strong relationship and Equus has been nothing but a huge support, not just through grant funding, but through, you know, just thinking outside the box of other ways that we can continue to grow and develop our Apprentice Programs.
