Ongoing Support
Starting a new job is exciting, but it can also take time to adjust to new responsibilities, routines, and workplace expectations.
Ongoing Support provides continued assistance to help you maintain your employment and achieve your goals at work. The level of support you receive will depend on your individual needs and circumstances.
Support may include:
• Regular check-ins with your consultant
• Workplace coaching and mentoring
• Help resolving challenges at work
• Support during changes in your role or workplace
• Assistance for employers to better support you
• Coordination with other services involved in your support
If your needs change over time, your support can be reviewed to ensure it continues to meet your circumstances and employment goals.
Workplace modifications and adjustments
Sometimes simple changes can make it easier to do your job safely, comfortably, and confidently.
Depending on your circumstances and eligibility, support may be available to help identify and access workplace modifications that remove barriers and support your success at work.
Examples may include:
- Assistive technology
- Specialised equipment
- Changes to workstations or workspaces
- Flexible working arrangements
- Modified duties or work tasks
- Communication supports
- Accessibility improvements
We can help you understand the options available and work with your employer to identify practical solutions that support your needs.
How you get the right support at work
Sometimes an assessment is needed to better understand the support that will help you succeed and remain employed.
APM provides independent workplace support assessments for Inclusive Employment Australia participants, including people who receive services from other employment service providers.
Our qualified assessors take the time to understand your role, workplace, strengths, challenges, and support needs so recommendations can be tailored to your situation.
Ongoing Support Assessments
An Ongoing Support Assessment helps determine the level of ongoing assistance that may be needed to help you maintain your employment.
The assessment looks at:
- Your current work situation
- Any challenges you experience at work
- Existing supports already in place
- The assistance that may help you continue working successfully
The outcome helps identify the support that may be appropriate to help you stay employed and achieve your goals.
Workplace Modifications Assessments
A Workplace Modifications Assessment helps identify practical changes, equipment, or technology that may make your workplace more accessible and better suited to your needs.
The assessment may involve:
- Reviewing your job tasks
- Understanding barriers you experience at work
- Observing your work environment
- Talking with you and your employer
- Recommending practical solutions and adjustments
Recommendations may include assistive technology, specialised equipment, workstation modifications, accessibility improvements, or other workplace adjustments that can support your success.
